Indoor Soccer....

Another washed out weekend for most of our Lower Island club soccer players with weather conditions closing down our regular Sunday practice pitch of Upper Colville and due to a scheduling conflict the Naden Gym was not available, as a result, most of the LISA DDC training teams could not practice on Sunday!! A quick call to the good people at Oak Bay Recreation and we where able to fit in an hour on their indoor turf field..an experience for many players and the delighted parents who could observe from the comfort of the upstairs lounge!

LISA's u12B Coach MarioP ("alias Coach Pasta") was our 'guest coach' this weekend and gave the girls an entertaining and also educational session focusing on three aspects of their game, but first a good warm up (above). Coach Mario explained that a good Offensive/Defensive transition game was important especially when they play the u11G teams so that was the main focus of todays session. The players split into the 'Red' and the 'Blue' squads and alternated between Defense and Offensive positions.

(below) Our team keeper had to stay sharp as the balls where being shot from close range. She used her special skills learned from LISA Keeper Coach: BobS to challenge the ball carriers and coming out to close down angles. This was an excellent practice for her! Coach Mario often praised her efforts! Well done M!

(below) "What!!!! Yet another e-MAIL from RobertK????....."(above) Lindsey [BaysU] takes a break from action. Lindsey has one of the hardest shots of any of our players! Well done today, no wonder that she has been one of our goal scorers in recent games!!

Thanks to everyone who could attend! Next week we hope to be outdoors on a dry Upper Colville pitch! Thanks again to everyone, you demonstrated a lot of skill today, Coach Mario commented throughout the practice how impressed he was with the first touch quality of all the players!

PS: Sorry for the poor photo quality
