Game 3>> Goals: 6, Goal-Posts: 4
The first game between the teams saw a spirited match played on the turf at Finlayson Park which ended in a 2-2 draw. Both teams where familiar with their opponents and parents noted that the tactics where changed for this encounter!

LISA started the game with a quick goal then settled into a midfield game.

Despite the size difference the LISA girls got 'stuck in' in an effort to take possession of the ball.

LakeHill (and LISA u11g) player: Cedar struck the cross bar twice in the first half with well placed shots to the upper left side but her team mate Justine was to get the equalizer for the 'Reds'. Charlene (LH) would give the 'Reds' the go ahead.

(above) at half time Coach Godwill discussed tactics with his players.

In the second half it was the LISA girls who would hit the cross bar but fail to connect on a few attempts to equalize the score until BriannaW (JdF) would get the come back goal for the LISA 'Blues' which was short lived as LakeHill continued to apply excellent pressure and where rewarded with their insurance goal!

The LISA staff remarked after a well played game that there where a lot of positives that came out of this third Super8 game played by the 'Blues'. The midfield was much better than in past games. Also, the second goal demonstrated some excellent passing. Coach Godwill did say that the team will need some work on their defensive play especially how they move the ball out of their end and that he would incorporate that into future training sessions.

Once again the LISA team wishes to thank the LakeHill Soccer Club for hosting the game and for providing good competition! Thanks to all the parents and our Ref: EvanF!
'Player of the Game' honours went to Lindsey and Brianna from LISA, and Justine and Charlene from LakeHill

Dec.11 Practice

The two Super8 games had shown that when we make use of the space and pass we can compensate for the size difference between u10 and u11 ! What Coach Dave wanted to also work on was how we make our passes focusing on knowing how to receive and how to hand off a clean pass. A big part of the Sunday practice consisted of putting 5 passes in a row while facing pressure from the 4 yellow pinnie players. Everyone worked hard and Coach Dave was pleased with the results - well done to all the players!
Below a few snapshots taken from the practice!

5) "I got the ball...."
6) "The mud sure sticks to these new cleats, how 'bout cleaning them Dad?"

Fun at Finlayson!
32 players from LISA, LakeHill and BaysU particpate in two Super8 exhibition games (U10,U11,U12g teams) following a day when most players where unable to play due to field closures! For many of the LISA players this was their first time on the new City of Victoria Turf field and over the next 50 minutes many would see balls run away from their feet and over the touch line thanks in part to the speedy playing surface!!

Last week the LISA u10g team played at Braefoot Park vs the LakeHill u11g Lightning this time they where the 'home' team playing against the LakeHill u11g Reds team which is also the club side for two of the LISA u11g players: Justine and Cedar! LISA was once again short one of their strong defenders and LakeHill also fielded a side short a player or two.
The game started with the LakeHill Reds controlling much of the play in the opening 20 minutes with Justine, Teagan and Cedar often threatening the LISA defense. It was not long before Justine opened the scoring for LakeHill. The LISA side playing just their second Super8 format game where still getting acustomed to the midfield position! Before the 1st half ended Teagan also notched a goal past the unlucky LISA goalie!
The second half pep talk from Coach Godwill had an immediate effect on the players who started to use the width of the field by taking the ball down the line and looking for some passing opportunities. Twice Monique (LH) was unlucky in close range but LakeHill keeper: Charlene came up with some big saves! Ally who was playing in goal for LISA was not tested very often in the second half.
LISAs speed right winger BrianneW (JdF) combined with CathryneG (BU) for many exciting plays. Cathryne scored twice in the 2nd half to draw the LISA side even for a final 2-2 end score!
The fans enjoyed the game from the bleachers!
Thanks to the LakeHill players, parents and ref: EvanF !
The next two Sundays will see the LISA girls in training sessions at UpperColville with Coaches Godwill and DaveM. The next games for the LISA u10g players will be in January!
