Gorge Girls Tournament (April 2nd)

LISA Game 9 > LISA u10G vs Gorge Cordick (0-0)
The first of two Sunday games vs Gorge u11Teams turned out to be a very physical game and the LISA girls where up to the challenge! Many hard fought 1v1 situations with most of the play in the midfield. All fifteen 'team players' played very important roles in this match! Robert coached once again and tried different line-up combinations using the two C/K-atherines together as forwards for the first time this season! Lindsey and Montana where also paired up. Bri played back on defense with Leslie, Ally and Zoe for large portions of the game. The midfield of Alynn, Monique, Haley, Amal, Natashya, Thea *all* played strong two-way soccer! Keeper Michaela had a relatively calm first (of 3) game of the day (1W and 2T)!
The excellent Gorge player seen above was a constant runner and our LISA girls had to work hard to stay with her but our defenders where up to the challenge, Gorge had few shots on the goal in this game!! Monique had some excellent runs down the left wing in this game and made some very nice crosses to the goal area, the vocal Gorge keeper was tested infrequently but did prevent 2 excellent 'goal mouth scrambles' from going into her net. Montana took some excellent corner kicks! Behind our 9am game vs Gorge the LakeHill u11G Lightning team is warming up for their 10am game! Sunday would see Monique and Montana play in 3 straight games! Montana scored 3 goals on the day playing in 4 games on Sunday. Over the weekend Michaela was in goal for large portions of 7 games including all three LISA games! Michaela ended the weekend with a GPG* of 1.33 (LISA games) for an excellent record! Well done keeper! Three of our players who don't usually draw a lot of attention came up big in this game with strong individual play: Alynn, Haley and Lindsey..but all 15 players demonstrated why the team has preserved 4 draws this season against opponents>> by playing a strong defensive midfield game.

(below) Montana already wearing her #8 for Lakehill...

Team Manager Robert presents Leslie with her tournament medal. Leslie is a very dependable defender and LISA hopes to have her and all the players back for next seasons U11 team!

* GPG = Goals 'against' per Game

Gorge Girls Tournament (April 1st)

our 2005/2006 LISA u10G Dolphins-Sharks team

3rd Gorge Soccer Association Girls Tournament

All our 15 (!) LISA u10G Academy players showed up for the first time in many weeks at the same location (!) making the coaches 'line changes' a challenge! But with such a great group of players to select from the coach opted for a steady stream of subs in 5 minute rotations which meant players had to stay focused at all times!Playing on the Gorge Turf field was an interesting experience but one the LISA players where accustomed to with their Academy team regularily having played on Finlyson and UVIC turf fields this season! The players started the first half with little in the way of passing but strong defensive play, they where able to take the early lead and continued to work hard against an excellent Peninsula Typhoons team! Peninsula has a number of players who run hard, defend well and transition the ball from side to side! In the second half the LISA players demonstrated the results of all the Sunday Upper Colville training sessions from Coaches Gee, MarioP and DaveM by combining with good ball movement up the wings and excellent runs by players such as Monique, Bri, Catherine, Alynn and others! Leslie , Zoe, Natasha where all very good on defense! The two [C/K]atherines combined for some excellent forward rushes! Michaela [once again]came up big with good goaltending! In all, it was a team effort of 15 motivated LISA players and despite the 1-2 end result it was probably the best 25 minutes the team has played all season! Well done!
Peninsula's #10 is an excellent player who kept our defenders very busy during this game!
